Brambleton Preschool and Child Care
As parents ourselves, we understand that choosing the best educational child care for your child is one of the hardest decisions you have to make. By providing an environment for your child where they can grow and thrive, we are confident that Winwood Children’s Center in Brambleton, Virginia is the best preschool you can choose.
At Winwood Children’s Center we integrate the most important elements in any child care or preschool – giving your child a fun educational experience and care from an amazing team of teachers. Combined, the value our preschool offers is unparalleled. We extend our school’s value by including nutritious meals and enrichment classes such as Spanish, Sports, and Technology without additional fees.
To give you a better idea about all that our school has to offer we are excited to introduce you to Dana Stauffer, our Preschool Director at Winwood Children’s Center in Brambleton, Virginia.
Our beautiful school is nestled in the Brambleton community, just down the road from Creighton’s Corner Elementary School. We are located at 42780 Creighton Road, Brambleton, VA 20148. We opened our doors in August 2009. We are very proud to offer an outstanding structured program which includes several curricular components such as:
- Baby Signs
- Creative Art
- Dramatic Play
- Gym/Physical Fitness
- Handwriting Without Tears
- Science and Sensory Exploration
- Social Studies
- Technology (SMARTBoard and Computers)
- Zoo Phonics
Our center is very unique in that we offer a “Rotating Classroom Schedule” to ensure that your child remains stimulated throughout the day. Each class, starting from our Young Toddlers (12 – 20 months) to our Junior Kindergarten class, rotates between 4 classrooms in the morning and in the afternoon. Our curriculum is divided in to 4 key areas: Language Arts, Art & Dramatic Play, Math & Science, and Gym & Music. These academic areas are taught whenever the opportunity arises, and also specifically and deliberately in all curriculum areas. Each curriculum area classroom offers a different style of learning, appropriate materials and equipment, and alternates between child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. They are all integrated with the thematic approach and coordinated lesson planning. The four curriculum areas are taught by Specialists, who co-teach with our Lead Teachers, in classrooms specifically designed and equipped for each subject area. The children work together in small groups, enjoying relationships with another for the school year, and have the advantages of utilizing all 4 specialized classrooms, as well as our playground and SMARTBoard. The Lead Teacher rotates to each classroom with their class, while the Specialist remains in their designated classroom.
In addition to our Toddler and Preschool programs, we offer an Infant program for children 6 weeks through 12 months of age, as well as a full-day Private Kindergarten program. We also offer an academic Kindergarten Enrichment program to accommodate children attending morning Kindergarten within Loudoun County Public Schools, and an After-School program for children attending 1st through 5th grade. At this time, we provide bus service to and from Creighton’s Corner Elementary and Legacy Elementary.
Another popular feature with our families is our “Webcam” which allows internet access into your child’s classroom so that you can check in during the day to see how your child is doing. Grandparents, aunts & uncles, and other family members love this feature as well! We offer a top of the line security door code system by the front entrance. Each day we provide a morning snack, a hot catered lunch and an afternoon snack.
Our campus offers a unique outdoor environment featuring three separate playgrounds. We have a playground for Infants and Toddlers, ages 12 months – 3 years, a larger pre-school playground for children 3 – 5 years of age, and a Kindergarten & School Age playground for ages 5-12 years.
Community involvement is a big part of life at Winwood Children’s Center. We hold several parent events throughout the year, such as our Back to School Night, New Family Orientation, Parent’s Night Out (the last Friday of every month), Costume Parades, Mother’s Day Tea Party and a Fathers Day Breakfast, just to name a few. We celebrate “The Week of the Young Child” every April. During this week we are devoted to the community and celebrating the children, parents and staff members as a whole.
Our center employs about 35 respectful, experienced, upbeat, professional and qualified teachers. The majority of our teachers are CPR/First Aid certified and many of them have their CDA, Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s along with several years of experience. Several staff members also hold MAT certifications. We are dedicated to hiring qualified teachers.
Here at Winwood, we are very proud of our program and staff, believing that we are #1 when compared to other childcare centers. We realize you have options when it comes to early childhood education which is why we do our absolute best in providing you with lower ratios, smaller group sizes, highly qualified teachers, and a strong curriculum. We encourage you to visit our campus at anytime as we look forward to welcoming you and your family to our Phoenix Children’s Academy Family.
My name is Dana Stauffer and I have been with Winwood Children’s Center since October 2004. I started with Winwood at our Gainesville location as a two’s teacher. Throughout my time in Gainesville, I taught Pre-k and Private kindergarten. I transferred to the Brambleton location in January 2010 as the Assistant Director. I took over as Director in April 2011. My husband and I have two beautiful boys, Aaron (3 years) and Elias (5 years) who also attend Winwood in the Toddler and Preschool programs. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from York College and a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Argosy University. I love working with children and being a part of their development growth.
